Los Angeles thrashers SLAYER have cancelled their previously announced appearance at the third edition of the Monterrey Metal Fest, set to take place Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Coca Cola Auditorium in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. SLAYER, who were scheduled to headline the event, cited "personal reasons" as the cause of the cancellation.
This year's Monterrey Metal Fest is being billed as "Hell and Heaven United" due to the fact that the festival will include appearances by reunited Christian hard rockers STRYPER and Satanic death metallers DEICIDE. The concert, which promises to be the "biggest and baddest version yet," will feature eight of the biggest names in heavy metal music from all over the world on the main stage and 12 up-and-coming international and Mexican bands on the second stage.
Commented Michael Sweet: "We found out a few days ago that SLAYER pulled out of the Mexico festival. According to the promoter, it was due to the fact that STRYPER was on the bill. We only decided to take the show when we found out that SLAYER was on the bill. We've always wanted to do a show/tour with SLAYER in order to reach out to their fans/followers but since they cancelled, we have decided to shoot a new video to the song 'Passion'. It will be shot in Nashville on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of September. A video is long overdue and since SLAYER is no longer in the line-up, the video shoot is our #1 priority."
Good to see the Devil knows when he's defeated! LOL!
Reminds me of TWO seperate occasions when my band, OBLITERATION, was slated to play shows with Deicide in OKC. The first time, they refused to even schedule the show with us, who were a christian death metal band. Then, the second time, when an OKC promoter tried to get Deicide to OKC, Deicide actually agreed to the show WITH US as the opening act. Then the week of the show, they canceled out again.
Satan is weak!
